Nearing the end of week 1

On one hand I am kind of surprised that tomorrow it already Friday but on the other hand I can't believe how time is dragging. My class is boring, but I guess just the right level of challenging. I know whats going on but I am still learning things.

I finally got a sim card that works today. I still cannot send or receive texts from the US but I can now receive calls which I guess is kinda important. I'm keeping my old sim card too though...That one is 2 cents/min to call America and the new one is 72 cents/minute (and no that is not a typo).

So anyway, I can't remember when I last updated. Tuesday night I suppose. Ok so yesterday was just class. Then went to a mcdonalds in the old city to steal wireless. Then we went to the grocery store where I got some pasta and sauce and an 11 pack of nectarines, apple juice, bread, tea, and sugar.

Then we came to the mcdonalds near our dorm and used the wireless for 3 hours. I would have updated then but there was really nothing to tell you. Then we went home and made dinner and hung out talking to the other people in our program. Liz and I went down to the fitness center in our basement and Julie went to practice in the music rehearsal room. Then I went back upstairs, took a shower and started to do my homework. About 5 mins in I fell asleep and didn't wake up again till this morning. So I had to do my homework this morning. It worked out fine though.

So I woke up, got dressed, packed lunch, had a very quick breakfast, and then we all sprinted for the train (literally). We just got on before it pulled away. So we parted ways and went to our classes. During my 30 minute break I went to get my new sim card and FINALLY it works...at least sort of...the guy at the store tried to tell me I can't receive and send texts to America because most Americans don't have texting. I was like, what planet are you from?

Anyway, I went back to class and we had a discussion on History. For tomorrow I have to prepare 10 important dates in US History and present them to the class. That shouldn't be so bad.

So this afternoon we went on a tour type thing around the city. We went the the Nonnberg Abbey where the sound of music took place, we went this other church which was supposed to be where the Van Trapp family hid as they were trying to flee austria, we went to the Cathedral, and we went to Mozarts birth house. I met this really cute Irish girl. We talked about Gaelic languages and different places in Ireland. It was fun. She is close friends with this Hungarian girl. She was getting frustrated cause English is her 3rd language and so she isn't very good at it yet and we were all speaking really fast English. So I started talking to her in German. She was nice too. They are younger, like 17 ish.

So then we came home. I ran about 1/2 mile (no exaggeration) to try to catch my bus and I just barely made it. I was glad I made it though. So we went home, I did some work, and then made dinner. After dinner, we came back here to McDonalds. It is fun cause I can by a Euro menu milkshake for 1 euro and use the wirelss all I want. It costs 1 euro to use an internet cafe for 30 mins and that is slow and on a strange computer.

So that is what we are doing now. I have my first test tomorrow but I am not too worried about it. I don't imagine it'll be too difficult. Plus the more time that takes, the less time we have to listen to our professor talk.

Tomorrow, we have class and then some people are going to this pool. I don't think I am going to go cause I think it will be really expensive. I might come back here or wander around to somewhere.

Saturday we have an excursion but where we go depends on the weather. If it is nice we are going to Hellbrun, a nearby town, but if it rains (as it is supposed to) we are going to the Salt mines in Hallein, which is what I am hoping for.

It's crazy, tomorrow is supposed to be 90 degrees and Saturday is supposed to be 64. I want it to stay like 64. The mid-high 80s are too hot.

So that is all I have for now. I will have new pictures up in the Salzburg album within the hour. Maybe I will post again tomorrow, if not then I'll be back Saturday or Sunday.
